Mid-Month Dash of Empowerment|Take Great Comparison Notes

This month’s focus is on comparing yourself with others less. It’s an injustice to yourself to negatively compare yourself with others, how can you expect to have their results with your gifts and talents? It’s also a disservice to the person you’re comparing yourself to. You’re diluting the value of the hard work and effort they put into their dream by thinking they just had it easier than you. Success comes in many forms and it’s probably a good idea to define your version so you know what you’re working towards. There’s no need for you to strive for someone else’s version of success, become someone you’re not, or embody anyone else. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself and upgrade yourself as often as necessary to keep you running at your best.

Is it realistic to compare yourself to the people below?

  • Oprah Winfrey
  • Mother Teresa
  • J.K. Rowling
  • Audrey Hepburn
  • Maya Angelou
  • Coco Chanel
  • Beyonce
  • Elizabeth Taylor
  • Serena Williams
  • Your boss
  • Your mom
  • Your best friend

A lot of times we compare ourselves to those that have already put in the sacrifice and dedication required to nuture their destiny from a dream to reality.

A lot of the people listed are trailblazers paving the way for those around them and coming after them. Instead of comparing yourself to them, learn from them. Instead of allowing yourself to become envious or judgmental of someone, be thankful for them! Thankful they awaken the vision within you and enable you to gain clarity on what you want. By evaluating why you’re comparing yourself and analyzing what comparisons you’re making, you can take notes on what you see in them that you like and dislike. You might surprise yourself and come to find you don’t dislike them! You just see something within them that you have and aren’t utilizing. Honor them for the amazing way they are able to live their truth. Now, refocus and bring out the greatness within you that will inspire those around you!
