Happy Thanksgiving! It’s my absolute favorite day of the year! A day where we gather with friends and family in celebration of what we’re grateful for. Honestly, learning how to incorporate gratitude into every day was one of the things that had the biggest positive impact in my life! When I struggled with depression, I could always find something to complain about. Teaching myself to find something to be grateful for was difficult but life changing! I want to encourage you to find something to be thankful for every day. Not in passing, but intentionally look to be grateful, especially when it’s hard.
I have a notebook where I created a gratitude calendar. Each night, before I go to bed, I write down something I’m grateful for about that day. Whatever the first thing that comes to mind (or heart), the simplest thing, or what I’m most profoundly grateful for gets summarized and jotted down in a few words. I love going back and looking over my month at a glance and seeing something to be thankful for each day. It brings back memories of that day and when I’m having a bad day, it reminds me there’s always something to be grateful for.
I want to encourage you to do the same thing. You can use the calendar on your phone or make one if you like to doodle. If you find that you struggle to find something to be grateful for on a regular basis. start small. Seriously, really small. I know I say this a lot, but grateful for having a toothbrush! The amazing thing about gratitude is the impact is the same whether you’re grateful for your child or your toothpaste. It’s not about what you’re grateful for but the practice itself that makes the difference.
Today, I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with you. To share messages of encouragement, confirmation, and empowerment. Thank you for being there. May this reach the person that needed to hear this today. ❤
Sending you lots of love, and wishing you all that you need to support you in finding something to be grateful for in every situation.
